CNN launched its redesigned site this week after holding a fancy party last week to celebrate it. Any change can be bumpy. As much as people say they like change, they really don't when push comes to shove. Still, the real-time feedback loop is speaking pretty directly to discomfort with the changes. There's more over at a CNN blog post, but the conversation is distributed nowadays and very public. It'll be interesting to see: 1. if this builds, and 2. if CNN has to address it.
To me, Twitter can be a gunshot reaction. A one-off opinion upon first viewing. Perhaps if CNN used a steady focus group to explore the site, it's features and usability, it would grow on people. (Unfortunately, websites aren't the kinds of things that should grow on people...but look at all the changes Facebook has made that users put up with)
Ultimately, if users don't like the new design, does responsibility fall to CNN or the creators (in this case, Huge)?

I think in the long run, CNN will gain from designing a web destination that will enable it to compete with all of the other varied news sources. Like many brands, you have to weigh the current users who, even with their complaints, have come to accept the web site as it is (UI adaption from consistent usage) with the needs of competing for new users who are getting their news from blogs, alternative news sources, and Social Networks.

Most everywhere you flip when looking at sports as of late you'll see and hear tales about the prosecution of Michael Vick, the Atlanta Falcons football star quarterback. Expecting to be ready to advance his profession, Vick is now thinking of his possible choices as as to if to accept the government's plea deal.
